POSTERS / CONCEPT

Make Love Not Cars

I was posed with the challenge of creating a typographic poster based on the Melbourne City bicycle culture. Melbourne, Australia is a relatively flat city with over-all good bicycling conditions, so the bicycle culture is religion for thousands of fit, environmentally-friendly Melbournians. I focused on the environmental aspect, as many citizens here are conscious and passionate about reducing their carbon footprint. To add an edge, I wanted it to be sexy and playful, combining a twist of the good old ‘Make Love not War’ slogan with a scantily-clad bike-ridess.

To comply with the second condition of the challenge; adding a handmade element, I used home-cut stencils and neon colored spray paint to create the typography. This enabled me to acheive a more intense and bright neon than with ordinary print.
